Description
Order a Print of St. Moses the Black Byzantine Icon – St. Moses the Black began his life as a slave who was eventually dismissed for theft and became the leader of a notorious band of robbers. Through a powerful conversion experience, he renounced his violent past and entered a monastery in the Egyptian desert. Despite struggling with temptations from his former life, he embraced a life of asceticism, prayer, and service to others. Eventually, he was martyred at the hands of barbarians who raided the western desert, Scetis (now known as Wadi El-Natrun).
